Northaw School chooses modular building solution for extra space

Northaw Church of England School modular building contract

Northaw Church of England School is part of the Diocese of St Albans and is located in a rural village just outside Potters Bar.

This spring Danzer Ltd has manufactured and installed a 4 module Linkpak NG building. This provides an additional 69m2 teaching area as well as WC and disabled toilet facilities and a sliding partition which allows the space to be divided at a moment’s notice.

The school required a practical solution to create the new flexible teaching space and the market-leading Linkpak NG product, which is fully compliant with building regulations, was commissioned. As it is manufactured off site it provided a speedy build programme for the school. The new building features a host of energy saving devices to improve efficiency and reduce running costs including double glazing and CFC free wall insulation.

The building was also designed to be as sympathetic to the rural surroundings as possible and features details such as Boston Brick Red external cladding in fine grade aggregate panels.

Access to the site was tight and so the installation team had to “park” part of the building at South Mimms services and then ferry them section by section on to site. The unit also needed to be transferred across a block paved yard and so a cushioned underlay was placed under trackway to avoid any damage to the paving.

The building took three weeks to be manufactured off site before being installed in just ten days.

Danzer weighs in with modular buildings for Avery Railweight

Anti-vandal modular building for Avery Railweight

Danzer Ltd is working with Avery Railweight to install anti-vandal modular buildings at key freight weighing points around the UK.
The buildings will be used to securely house the instrumentation equipment which measures the train weight and other related information. This information is then passed back to a management office for data records and analysis. In the UK the buildings will be installed trackside, at power stations, steel works and freight shunting yards.

Commenting on the selection of Danzer’s anti-vandal product Avery Railweight’s Operations Manager Mike Davies said: “We specified the anti-vandal product because it is compact and secure and also because they are very robust, which is essential as they will be trackside.

Danzer was also able to be flexible with the variety of sizes they could provide and modified and adapted a number of units to meet our exact requirements. We have installed two so far and there will be at least a further six operational later in the year.”

Avery Railweight weighs freight trains and the loads that they carry such as coal, minerals, molten steel, sugar, oil and waste. The systems are installed in the UK and around the world in countries including: Australia, Brazil, USA, Canada, South Africa, Europe, Eastern Europe and Russia.

£100,000 Modular Building Office Move For AV Group

Modular building company AV Group has invested £100,000 to create new office accommodation for itself at its site on Windmill Lane, Denton.
The team of 25 will move into state of the art modular accommodation in June. The new office is also designed to help some of the team move to more flexible working patterns and will free up additional space on site for the thriving hire business.

Commenting on the move Director Helen Scott said: ‘We manufacture and hire out high quality modular office systems so it makes sense that our own offices now showcase our best products. We have decided to use our HighLine product which gives increased ceiling height and vastly improved insulation values. We have specified wider windows to let in more natural light and the building will include energy saving features such as off peak storage heating, double glazing, passive infra red lighting and rainwater harvesting.’

The investment comes after the company has won a string of recent contracts including a £1m deal to provide new school buildings across London as well as a £500,000 deal with care home provider Castleoak and on-going contracts with clients including BAM Construction, Wates Construction, Eric Wright Group, British Sugar and McLaren Construction.

The new office layout will make more space available on site to accommodate the 4,000 unit hire fleet in which AV Group invests up to £1m each year to replenish stock.

AV Group specialises in providing modular and site accommodation for construction firms, hospitals, sports clubs and schools. It manufactures all of its stock in the UK at its sister company Danzer Ltd in Nottingham.

Visitors enjoy bird’s eye view at Manchester City Football Academy

Manchester City Football Academy ETIHAD viewing platform

Over 500 visitors have seen at first hand the on-going development work at the new City Football Academy which is due to open in time for the 2014/2015 Premier League season, thanks to a Visitor Centre which has been installed by AV Group at the Etihad Stadium.

Visitors from schools, local residents and colleges have been welcomed to the Centre and shown the views over the development site, to see for themselves how the new Football Academy is taking shape.

Denton-based AV Group is providing all of the temporary site accommodation during the build phase, fulfilling BAM Construction Ltd’s brief to provide a Visitor Centre and viewing facility alongside top-of-the-range accommodation for contractors and subcontractors. The Centre shows plans of the finished Academy and allows visitors view the construction site to see how the finished facility will eventually look.

Commenting on the progress so far Mike Burchall of AV Group said: “There has been significant public interest in the work taking place, people seem really keen to see how the Academy is developing.”

AV Group provides modular site accommodation for construction projects and this installation includes an open plan meeting room, catering facilities, toilets, washrooms and office space. The site accommodation creates 15,800 ft2 (1,468m2) of space over 3 floors and includes a lift to the viewing gallery to ensure access for all.

Mike Burchall continues: “The standard of temporary accommodation required on major construction sites like this now is extremely high. Clients want to provide the highest standard of facilities for their people and that includes great showers, fitted kitchens, Sky TV in the canteen, open plan meeting rooms with no posts in the middle as well as eco-friendly details such as passive Infra-red lighting, rainwater harvesting and the best possible levels of insulation.

“Keeping uniformity on site is really important and we have extended our contract this week with BAM Construction Ltd to also provide additional units for sub-contractors FK Construction. Providing a Visitor Centre too was an important part of the brief to ensure open access to the public and we are delighted to be providing world-class facilities for a world-class team.”

AV Group specialises in providing modular and site accommodation for construction firms, hospitals, sports clubs and schools. It manufactures all of its stock in the UK at its sister company Danzer Ltd in Nottingham and invests up to £1m each year in replenishing its 4,000 unit hire fleet.

AV Group supporting The Africa Trust

We at the AV Group and Danzer Limited are aware that keeping our staff members hydrated will aid them to perform at their very best throughout the work day. As a result, we decided to invest in water coolers from AquAid – our unique relationship with AquAid has also given our company the opportunity to help those less fortunate than ourselves.

Our decision to install a water cooler from AquAid means that for each one of the machines that we have, we have donated £20 per year per cooler to The Africa Trust.

Through our contributions to The Africa Trust, an ‘Elephant Pump’ is being installed in Africa on our behalf. This pump will bring much needed, clean, fresh drinking water and improve the quality of life of those who will have access to our well.

Our company’s name will be displayed proudly on our well and we look forward to adding some photos and letters of thanks from the villages to our site in the near future.

AquAid, along with their sister company Perfect Printer Cartridges have to date donated over 6 Million Pounds to Charity. www.aquaid.co.uk
