Cameron Pledges 200,000 starter homes

200,000 homes available to first-time buyers

Britain’s housebuilding drive continues to go from strength to strength with the latest pledge from David Cameron to make 200,000 homes available to first-time buyers in England by 2020 if the Tories win the election.

It is certainly an ambition which is reflected in the orders we are receiving from many of our housebuilder clients. In the first two months of 2015 alone we have taken orders valued at £486,000 from clients including Taylor Wimpey Group across its branches in South West Thames, North Midlands, Midlands, Southern Counties and South Midlands areas and from Barratt David Wilson Homes (BDW) across the North West and North Thames.

The coalition government has already announced plans for 100,000 cut-price homes for people aged under 40. Mr Cameron said his party would double it if elected, giving more people the security of owning their own home. You can read more about the story here.

This is not only great news for first time buyers but for many of our clients in the housebuilding industry too. The House Builders Federation estimates that over 100,000 new jobs have been created in the UK by the increase in house building over the past two years.

But tens of thousands more people will need to be recruited and trained over the coming years as the industry gears up to meet the housing requirements of the country and deliver on the ambitions of politicians.

At Danzer Limited our new steel production facility is already working to full capacity, processing orders for house builders and producing welfare and site accommodation units for residential schemes across the country.

The swift growth surge has also come from house builders such as Barratt, David Wilson Homes, Taylor Wimpey and Radleigh Homes who use our steel anti-vandal cabins on development sites across the country.
