We’ve invested £1.2m in our modular building UK hire fleet

Helen Scott, Managing Director

The AV Group have invested £1.2m in it’s modular building UK hire fleet recently, and we’ve recruited 16 new staff to help with the surge in demand for our modular buildings.

Denton-based site accommodation company AV Group has invested £1.2m in upgrading its fleet of hire accommodation units. The fleet is being renewed and the oldest units replaced to reflect the requirements of clients and ensure the highest quality standards are maintained.

The investment comes after a strong performance in 2013 which saw AV Group provide on-site accommodation to construction clients including BAM UK, Wates, McLaren, Grahams, Skanska and Eric Wright Group amongst many others.

In 2013 AV Group provided over 1,000 hire units for major construction schemes across the country including the new Graphene Institute in Manchester, McLaren’s £90m mixed-use development in Bromley and BAM’s new Co-operative HQ in Manchester One Angel Square. The swift growth surge has also come from house builders such as Taylor Wimpey, Barratt and Jones Homes who use the firm’s steel anti-vandal cabins on development sites across the country.

The increase in sales in December 2013 alone represented a 15% growth in rental income on the 2012 figures, and is a clear indication that demand for the firm’s products and services has risen as confidence begins to return to the construction sector.

Family-firm AV Group was established in 1986 by John Holloway and today is run by Directors Helen Scott and sons Dan and Bill Holloway. Commenting on the investment Helen Scott said: “The uptake in business has been really encouraging and as such we have taken the decision to make a significant additional investment into our fleet. Our hire business is really picking up as construction firms are moving forward with developing schemes, many of which have been on hold awaiting funding or interest from occupiers and we are really seeing that pick up in the first quarter of 2014.”

AV Group also operates Danzer Ltd, which manufactures the steel hire units as well as creating bespoke modular buildings for schools, colleges and companies.

The firm recently recruited 16 new staff to help with a huge surge in demand for its products, growing from 24 to 40 employees based across its sites in Nottingham and Manchester.

Supporting Prostate Cancer Awareness

avgroup-prostate-cancer

Through March and April we are supporting the National Prostate Cancer UK campaign. To kick-start the initiative, we have commissioned specially designed units featuring the charity’s distinctive blue colour and logo which are being delivered to construction firms and house builders across the country. We will be donating one months rental income for all campaign-branded units ordered during March and April.

This week the first blue units have been delivered on-site to construction firms including McGoff and Byrne, Medlock Building and T&B Contractors with more being delivered next week to Thomas Barnes, Taylor Wimpey North Thames, Eric Wright Group and United House.

Commenting on our support for Prostate Cancer Awareness Month AV Group Director Helen Scott said: “The construction industry is still a very male dominated industry and we wanted to play our part in helping to raise awareness of this important disease which kills 10,000 men a year. We will be fundraising at each of our depots in Manchester, Nottingham and Essex and will also be collecting on-site as we deliver units across the country to clients.”

We are also urging all of our employees and clients to undertake the Charity’s Men United test, a campaign to get men to join forces to beat cancer. Spearheaded by comedian Bill Bailey, Men United is five quick-fire questions about prostate cancer to help educate people about the disease.

AV Group unveil new modular building

New AV Group office in Denton

Watch this space…
AV Group are set to unveil new modular building accommodation
We cleared our desks, packed our bags, unplugged our computers and waved goodbye to our modular buildings on Windmill Lane a few weeks ago. They have served us well, but like any older building they were beginning to look a bit jaded around the edges so we decided it was time to treat ourselves to what we do best for our clients – a brand new modular workspace with the highest quality finishes and facilities – new workspaces, new loos, new meeting rooms and a new kitchen.
We’ve included rainwater harvesting so we can wash our vehicles and hire units and we are especially looking forward to a cosy Winter 2013 with the extra insulation and double glazing.

Now we are putting the finishing touches to our brand new home here at our Denton HQ and can’t wait to show you the final results. Pictures coming very soon….

Northaw School chooses modular building solution for extra space

Northaw Church of England School modular building contract

Northaw Church of England School is part of the Diocese of St Albans and is located in a rural village just outside Potters Bar.

This spring Danzer Ltd has manufactured and installed a 4 module Linkpak NG building. This provides an additional 69m2 teaching area as well as WC and disabled toilet facilities and a sliding partition which allows the space to be divided at a moment’s notice.

The school required a practical solution to create the new flexible teaching space and the market-leading Linkpak NG product, which is fully compliant with building regulations, was commissioned. As it is manufactured off site it provided a speedy build programme for the school. The new building features a host of energy saving devices to improve efficiency and reduce running costs including double glazing and CFC free wall insulation.

The building was also designed to be as sympathetic to the rural surroundings as possible and features details such as Boston Brick Red external cladding in fine grade aggregate panels.

Access to the site was tight and so the installation team had to “park” part of the building at South Mimms services and then ferry them section by section on to site. The unit also needed to be transferred across a block paved yard and so a cushioned underlay was placed under trackway to avoid any damage to the paving.

The building took three weeks to be manufactured off site before being installed in just ten days.

£100,000 Modular Building Office Move For AV Group

Modular building company AV Group has invested £100,000 to create new office accommodation for itself at its site on Windmill Lane, Denton.
The team of 25 will move into state of the art modular accommodation in June. The new office is also designed to help some of the team move to more flexible working patterns and will free up additional space on site for the thriving hire business.

Commenting on the move Director Helen Scott said: ‘We manufacture and hire out high quality modular office systems so it makes sense that our own offices now showcase our best products. We have decided to use our HighLine product which gives increased ceiling height and vastly improved insulation values. We have specified wider windows to let in more natural light and the building will include energy saving features such as off peak storage heating, double glazing, passive infra red lighting and rainwater harvesting.’

The investment comes after the company has won a string of recent contracts including a £1m deal to provide new school buildings across London as well as a £500,000 deal with care home provider Castleoak and on-going contracts with clients including BAM Construction, Wates Construction, Eric Wright Group, British Sugar and McLaren Construction.

The new office layout will make more space available on site to accommodate the 4,000 unit hire fleet in which AV Group invests up to £1m each year to replenish stock.

AV Group specialises in providing modular and site accommodation for construction firms, hospitals, sports clubs and schools. It manufactures all of its stock in the UK at its sister company Danzer Ltd in Nottingham.

AV Group supporting The Africa Trust

We at the AV Group and Danzer Limited are aware that keeping our staff members hydrated will aid them to perform at their very best throughout the work day. As a result, we decided to invest in water coolers from AquAid – our unique relationship with AquAid has also given our company the opportunity to help those less fortunate than ourselves.

Our decision to install a water cooler from AquAid means that for each one of the machines that we have, we have donated £20 per year per cooler to The Africa Trust.

Through our contributions to The Africa Trust, an ‘Elephant Pump’ is being installed in Africa on our behalf. This pump will bring much needed, clean, fresh drinking water and improve the quality of life of those who will have access to our well.

Our company’s name will be displayed proudly on our well and we look forward to adding some photos and letters of thanks from the villages to our site in the near future.

AquAid, along with their sister company Perfect Printer Cartridges have to date donated over 6 Million Pounds to Charity. www.aquaid.co.uk
