Every year we hold our now legendary staff Christmas Raffle which helps us to raise funds for local charities. We put all of our generous supplier-donated Christmas gifts into the mix and our wonderful team bake cakes and contribute additional prizes too.
Last year we raised £376 for the Wellspring Centre in Stockport which supports homeless and disadvantaged people in our community so let’s see how well we do this year!!
This Christmas we will be supporting Smartworks, a Manchester-based charity which helps women get back to work. They provide guidance, support and advice as well as helping people with donations of smart clothing for interviews and beyond.
Georgina Walkden from Smartworks explains how the organisation works. She said: “Smart Works provides high quality interview clothing, styling advice and interview training to out-of-work women on low incomes. We help women to feel confident, look fabulous, succeed at their job interview and move on with their life. This donation from AVDanzer will be really valuable to help us continue our work in 2017 and I’d like to thank the team very much for supporting us.”
Smartworks helps women who need interview-appropriate outfits. They are given clothes and accessories (theirs to keep) and are provided with one-to-one preparation training so they feel more confident and able to believe in their own ability to succeed.
AVDanzer’s Helen Scott said: “Smartworks is a fantastic charity that really works and helps to change the lives of so many women and we are delighted to be donating to them this year. I believe that offering support to women whose self-confidence is low and who want to work, but are perhaps struggling to find a way back in, has a really positive impact on our society. For mothers trying to return to work it helps them find a way back in and to be role models and provide for their children as they wish to which is so important.”
The Raffle will take place in the Denton office on Friday 23rd December and we will let you know how much we raise.
