SOUTH ESSEX COLLEGE
Originally the plan was to install the units using a lorry mounted crane on foundation pads in the car park area. However the day before installation we discovered that the access had been excavated so our area manager John Roper immediately arranged a crane to carry out installation, and of course updated all the H & S info to reflect this.
THE SHARD, LONDON
These inter-linked units provided welfare facilities for over 250 contractors during concrete core and initial steel framing phase of the works. Careful co-ordination, professionalism and an eye for detail were a necessity to making this work. We had two clients on this particular project : Byrne Bros. concrete core (AV Danzer also had units on hire to Byrne at the ‘Shard’ tallest tower in Europe project) and Canary Wharf Group PLC.
AVDanzer provided 11 site welfare units for Reis’ on-site team in a contract worth over £100,000. These will provide a large and roomy OpenSpace meeting room and an OpenSpace canteen with kitchen servery area. There is also a toilet block with disabled facilities and an office for sub-contractors which have been divided into three separate office spaces.
RECYCLING DEPOT, ALFRETON
Here’s a two unit system which we have just installed at a recycling depot in Alfreton, Derbyshire for JC Balls. We linked the two units end to end to provide a weigh bridge office, canteen, drying room and WC facilities and also included data points and air conditioning. We raised the building up onto large foundations to allow the weigh bridge window to line up with the vehicle windows to enable to staff to communicate more directly with drivers and also included roller shutters for increased security.

The buildings are used to securely house the instrumentation equipment which measures the train weight and other related information. This information is then passed back to a management office for data records and analysis. In the UK the buildings will be installed trackside, at power stations, steel works and freight shunting yards.
8 steel, anti-vandal units are used to provide additional workshop space for the sugar makers who produce 400,000 tonnes of the white stuff from the site every year. The units were placed 8ft apart and the gap between each unit was bridged to form an under cover storage area, a process which involved the fabrication of bespoke brackets to allow the storage roof to be attached.
