It’s not often that we need to provide units in a variety of sizes to fit the available space but when we do our Linkpak system allows full flexibility to meet even the most challenging of briefs.

Working for specialist contractor Nationwide, on Viridor’s Masons Material Recycling Facility site in Ipswich, we have designed a system of fourteen units, stacked 7 on 7 in a variety of module sizes to fit the limited space available.

Commenting on the project AVDanzer’s business development manager, Tim Comley, said: “Our Linkpak system is fully compliant with building regulations and it allows us complete versatility to meet very specific site requirements. The Ipswich project is the perfect example of how we can adapt the Linkpak system to deliver a fully bespoke design solution which perfectly fits the space available.

“We’ve been working with Nationwide to design this complex since the enquiry was made in June last year. They wanted to get us in very early on to ensure the end result was right and designed into the site plans from the outset. AVDanzer’s CAD team superimposed the layout drawing for the units onto the client’s site plan so we know that the complex we have designed will be the perfect fit. On restricted sites with limited space or poor access there is no room for error so getting the design right from the outset is imperative. We have a great relationship with Nationwide and they know we will always work closely with them to design the perfect set up for each location.”

Following ten months of careful planning with Nationwide and the project architects the units are now in production at Langley Mill and will be ready to go out to site in August.

Nationwide was keen to specify the highest standard finish for the accommodation which will be used by both site teams and senior management and will also welcome visitors to the site. The additional finishes will include locker rooms and a fitted kitchen on the ground floor with carpets, suspended ceilings, soundproofing, heating and air conditioning systems throughout. On the second floor the space provides offices and welfare rooms.

AVDanzer has also designed a timber internal staircase with split landing to link the two floors which is an unusual feature for site accommodation but Viridor want to keep their people dry so external linkage was ruled out!

The £15.4m Viridor investment in the Masons Materials Recycling Facility, will allow the company to transform and modernise the plant’s operations, improving capacity and output quality.
